Tubular Steel roof trusses are used for large span constructions such as factories, industry worksheds, shopping malls, huge exhibition centres, multiplexes etc. They are generally used for spans as large as 25-30m.

  • It is in two halves with bolted joints at P and Q, the remaining joints being 5mm fillet welds made in the workshop.
  • The main tie member rises 130mm from L to N to counteract any appearance of sag that would be evident if it were horizontal.
  • A bend a N reduces the midspan height to 2m so that the half truss is a manageable size for transportation.

Plate Girders | Structural Steel Components

  • The plate girders are used to carry the loads beyond the capacity of universal beams. They consist of plates and angles riveted together.
  • Plates and angles form an I-section.

Dormer Window | Architectural Construction

  • A dormer window is one which projects from the roof or as an extension of the main windows.
  • It is used to provide daylighting within the roof space when it is used as a room. It also serves as an architectural feature of interest.

Dormers are useful in Bungalow construction for providing additional habitable rooms with the normal roof structure.

The building regulations state that the ceiling height of the room must be atleast 2.3m, not less than half the area of the room measured at a height of 1.5m above floor level.
